Diabetes was associated with a slightly increased risk of bladder cancer in men, but not in women, according to a meta-analysis in BMC Cancer. Researchers found patients who had diabetes for five years or less had the highest risk of bladder cancer. However, one study indicated bladder cancer risk was greatest in those who had diabetes for 16 years or more.
