Diabetes was associated with a slightly increased risk of bladder cancer in men, but not in women, in about half of studies analyzed, according to a review in BMC Cancer. Researchers found that patients who had diabetes for five years or less had the highest risk of bladder cancer. However, one study revealed that bladder cancer risk was greatest in those who had diabetes for 16 years or more.
