The U.S. multifamily vacancy rate failed to tighten this past quarter, the first time in two years it has remained flat, according to new Reis figures. The national vacancy rate is 4.3%. In part this is due to the supply entering the markets. "[T]here are only so many people who can rent units, it has to slow down," Ryan Severino, senior economist for Reis, says.
