Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools in North Carolina are evaluating what new school-snack regulations will mean for the district. Cindy Hobbs, CMS executive director for child nutrition services, says the district mostly is in line with the standards, but it may have to eliminate cookies that are not whole grain and baked chips. She also noted that the district is not too concerned about a decline in revenue from a la carte sales because officials previously took steps to reduce the sale of snacks in favor of plated, more nutritious options.
