A 25-story apartment building under construction in the Long Island City neighborhood of Queens, N.Y., was designed with the first eight floors recessed 12 feet to accommodate a 147-foot-long neon Pepsi sign that has been on the spot since 1936. "It is almost as if the face of the sign shaped the volumetrics of the building," architect Bernardo Fort-Brescia said.
