The Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency will begin using Twitter to alert people about storms and other public safety events. The state will tweet information that has been verified as correct. Some counties tweet information as it is relayed to their 9-1-1 call center, even if it has not been verified, and make corrections as additional information comes in. "During emergencies such as storms or vehicle accidents, it's more important to quickly let people know about areas to avoid, rather than [verify] if every detail is correct," Allegheny County spokeswoman Amie Downs said.
