Android tablets accounted for two-thirds of global tablet shipments in the second quarter to grab a 67% share of the marketplace compared with 28% for Apple's iPad, according to research firm Strategy Analytics. A year ago, Android devices composed roughly half of the sales and market share while the iPad held a 47% share. In the U.S. smartphone market, Apple's iOS narrowed Android's lead to 9 percentage points, according to Kantar Worldpanel's second-quarter survey. BlackBerry's share plummeted from 4% to 1.1% as Windows Phone grew from 2.9% to a 4% share.
