Global downloads of fitness and sports mobile applications are expected to rise by 63% and reach 248 million in 2017 from 156 million last year, according to a report recently issued by IHS Electronics and Media. The report also revealed that the increase in the number of downloads, which is being led by a small number of apps, could enhance the demand for activity trackers, heart-rate monitors and other popular wearable health tools.
