Loeys-Dietz syndrome, a connective-tissue disorder caused by the mutation of the TGFb gene, is associated with an increased allergy risk in 7- to 20-year-olds, according to a study in the journal Science Translational Medicine. "TGF-beta really seems to be central to one of the key pathways that underlie the development of all forms of allergic disease," said study author Dr. Pamela Frischmeyer-Guerrerio.
