In an effort to stem the rampant rhino poaching that threatens to render the species extinct within the next few decades, South African officials have proposed selling the country's massive stockpile of rhino horn. Supporters say the move would flood the market, forcing prices down and thus removing the financial gain poachers seek. Opponents say the plan is naive and could backfire, possibly increasing demand.
