Aer Lingus Regional will let fliers coming from Birmingham Airport in the U.K. connecting in Dublin complete pre-clearance and customs on their way to the U.S. Ireland is the sole country in Europe to allow passport and customs pre-clearance, which means that fliers will save about two hours on arrival that would otherwise be spent clearing customs.
Abengoa has started a demonstration plant transforming waste into biofuel in Spain, with a capacity to treat 25,000 tons of municipal solid waste. The resulting bioethanol product can be used as an intermediate step in producing aviation biofuel.
Alaska Air Group, the parent company of Alaska Airlines, plans to begin a quarterly dividend next month. The initial dividend will be 20 cents payable to shareholders of record by Aug. 6, and will be paid out on Aug. 22.
As the investigation continues, NTSB Chairwoman Deborah Hersman said investigators still have a lot of information to review before issuing a final report in the months ahead. "There's a lot of interest in it and we want to make sure that we complete this investigation as expeditiously as possible," said Hersman.
Southwest Airlines has inked an agreement with Points, a company that allows travelers to earn loyalty program points through other businesses. Businesses can purchase Rapid Rewards Partnership Points and offer them to customers or employees.
