The Seattle school district this summer is reviewing its K-5 math curriculum, Everyday Math, which has been drawing complaints and concerns since it was approved six years ago. Critics say the program -- though designed to teach students to think mathematically -- is short on solid computational skills and other fundamental math concepts, and is therefore leading to math struggles for students in the upper grades.
