The nomination of Tom Wheeler as chairman of the Federal Communications Commission has cleared the Senate commerce committee, but it's not known when the full Senate will hold a confirmation vote. Senate Republicans are calling for the vote on Wheeler to be done in conjunction with a vote on a vacant Republican FCC seat, but no one has been nominated for that position. In the meantime, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, said he would use "procedural means" to hold up the vote on Wheeler, pending a response from the nominee on whether he will try to implement campaign finance rules that have not won support from lawmakers.
