The proposed Software-Hardware Interface for Multi-Many Core standard is being designed as an easier way to tie operating system software and other tools with processors that have multiple cores. Renesas Electronics and Xilinx have recently joined the effort, which previously attracted the participation of Cavium Networks, Freescale Semiconductor, Mentor Graphics, Nokia Siemens Networks and Texas Instruments, among other companies.
