Starwood Hotels & Resorts says it is looking to increase its footprint in Mexico by 30% in response to rising lodging demand in the country and in Latin America. "We are seeing strong demand for new hotel development across all of our brands and have the largest pipeline we have had in the country since before the global economic crisis," said Starwood CEO Frits van Paasschen. Starwood's luxury portfolio in Mexico is also set to grow by 50% over the next three years.
