Many fliers didn't need a recent TravelSupermarket study to tell them that the snacks offered on flights cost more than they do in stores. The study showed that baked goods can be marked up by as much as 241% and hot drinks increased to 2,601% of their market value. "Airlines realize they have a captive audience of potentially hungry mouths to feed once they close the aircraft’s doors," said Bob Atkinson from TravelSupermarket, which conducted the research.
