Students in a mandatory program for those studying science, technology, engineering and math in Anne Arundel County, Md., designed and operated medieval-era catapults. Students used the wooden contraptions to launch fruit, blocks of ice and other objects. "It gives kids problems that they've never come up with," technology education teacher Keith Brezina said, adding, "None have ever built a trebuchet, and they probably fixed 150 problems on this one alone."
