T-Mobile US has eliminated down payments for new handsets, under a promotional campaign in which it will raise monthly payments on some phones, the carrier announced on Friday. T-Mobile does not subsidize the cost of its phones but has trimmed its monthly fees for its service. Under the new plan, the total cost of some phones will decrease while others will rise. "Every time we have a chance to change pricing, we always make adjustments. Some are going up. Some are going down. Each and every one is going to zero down," said Mike Sievert, T-Mobile's chief marketing officer.
