Increased spending in the U.S. and China propelled global clean-energy investment to $53.1 billion in the second quarter, a 22% increase compared with Q1, according to Bloomberg New Energy Finance. U.S. investment in renewables and other technology increased 155%, to $9.5 billion, partly because of an extension of a wind-energy production tax credit and elevated stock prices for makers of clean-energy technology.
