TDS Telecom says it will offer a choice of lifetime Internet speed upgrade or lifetime high-definition television to neighborhoods in Concord, Tenn., and parts of Knoxville, Tenn., where at least 15% of homes preregister for its new fiber service. Unlike a similar promotion that Google Fiber offered in parts of the Kansas City, Mo., metropolitan area, TDS is establishing maps showing where fiber will be installed rather than using preregistration to determine which neighborhoods will get it. The TDS website shows consumers the deadlines for each neighborhood to preregister.
