The Hillsboro School District in Oregon recently hosted three elementary school teachers from Mexico as part of the Bi-national Migrant Education Teacher Exchange Program, in which teachers from Mexico instruct students from migrant families in U.S. schools. The teachers educate students about Mexican culture and literacy in Spanish and other indigenous languages. Meanwhile, the visiting educators learn about U.S. curriculum and instruction to assist with teaching migrant students, most of whom frequently travel between the U.S. and Mexico with their parents.
