Seventy-one percent of hypertensive patients who used a telemonitoring program got their blood pressure down to recommended levels, compared with 53% of those who had usual primary care, according to a study from the HealthPartners Institute for Education and Research. The telemonitoring program included checking blood pressure at home and regular phone calls with a pharmacist. The report in the Journal of the American Medical Association found that the benefits continued after the calls with the pharmacist ended.
