Cloud computing continues to draw more converts from the global enterprise community, but, according to Virtustream's Simon Aspinall, thanks to a lack of unity on the way services are marketed, businesses must still confront a number of misconceptions about the technology. Aspinall writes that so-called cloud-washing -- such as selling basic hosting, colocation or managed server offerings as the cloud -- confuses business leaders and threatens to slow down cloud maturation. "For the cloud industry to truly mature, cloud service providers must take on tough enterprise use cases rather than rebranding the migration of equipment," he writes.
