TransCanada rejected a proposal by the Environmental Protection Agency that would require the company to purchase renewable energy to operate pumping stations along the Keystone XL pipeline. "Keystone does not control the source of the power it purchases," the company said in a letter to the EPA. "TransCanada has invested over $5 billion in emission-less energy sources including the largest wind farm in Maine and 13 hydro power stations in the U.S. Northeast."
