California Community Colleges Chancellor Brice Harris has shifted authority from the City College of San Francisco's board of trustees to a special trustee charged with helping the school rescue its accredited status. The trustee was selected "to save City College, not preside over its closure," Harris said. The college met only two of 14 required standards, according to the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges, and it has a year to resolve the issues and save its accreditation.
