Johns Hopkins University's Engineering Innovation summer program in Rockville, Md., is exposing high-school students to a range of disciplines, including chemical, electrical and mechanical engineering, through hands-on activities, such as the design and construction of bridges made from spaghetti noodles. Program instructors hope to inspire a new generation of engineers and help students focus more narrowly as they start to consider colleges and majors.
