The USDA has approved a label for meat and liquid egg products showing animals' feed was free of genetically modified organisms. Meat and eggs cannot be tested for GMOs, which is the reason feed is tested instead, says Megan Westgate, executive director of the Non-GMO Project. The ruling lets producers seek and display certification from the Non-GMO Project and is the first time the USDA has approved this type of claim.
