While farmers in many parts of the world may not have access to the Internet, many are likely to have mobile phones, which allows them to take advantage of Cafédirect Producers' Foundation's WeFarm initiative. The program lets farmers text-message their questions to the group and receive answers from peers a world away; the system is already in use by about 300 farmers in Kenya, Peru and Tanzania, and it's on track to expand to more markets after updated tech tools are added in December, said Program Manager Kenny Ewan.
