Modern news releases should rely on some of the same engagement rules as social media in order to stay relevant and actually grab a reader's attention, Megan Ziman writes. Companies should focus on making news releases interesting enough that the title or lead paragraph would grab attention on sites such as Facebook. "Our social media life rules apply to business. ... Rather than blasting out anything and everything, it is better to filter and direct your messages carefully," Ziman writes.
