Quad County Corn Processors has begun building its cellulosic ethanol plant in Galva, Iowa. The $8.5 million facility, which will produce ethanol from corn kernel fibers, will rise next to the cooperative's corn ethanol plant. "If implemented industrywide, [Adding Cellulosic Ethanol] will be able to create an additional 2 billion gallons of cellulosic ethanol on an annual basis," said Delayne Johnson, general manager of the co-op. The project's progress is an indication that the industry is continuing to evolve and the Renewable Fuel Standard is working, said Bob Dinneen, president and CEO of the Renewable Fuels Association.
