The availability of workplace retirement plans and participation are increasing, according to a study by the Employee Benefit Research Institute. In 2009, workplace pension or retirement plans were available to 59% of workers age 16 or older, but by 2012, the figure was 61%. Over the same period, participation rose to 46%, from 45%.
