Work continues on Anadarko Petroleum's Lucius truss spar, eight of which the company plans to deploy in the Gulf of Mexico by 2016. Stretching 605 feet long and 110 feet in diameter, the platform will be capable of pumping as much as 80,000 barrels of oil per day from several Gulf wells and will be able to handle large waves and hurricanes. "We really like the spar," said Don Vardeman, vice president of worldwide projects for the company.
