Grocers and farmers donated about 16 million pounds of fresh produce to Arizona's food banks in the fiscal year ended June 30, an amount matching the national average, according to Feeding America. "We increased our total amount of food that we distributed last year by about 10%. Almost all of that can be attributed to more fruits and vegetables," said Jerry Brown, spokesman for the state's largest food bank, St. Mary's Food Bank Alliance.
