AT&T has doubled the maximum download speeds for its U-verse broadband service to 45 megabits per second in 40 additional markets and expressed the goal of eventually reaching 100 Mbps as part of its Project Velocity. Having begun the upgrade process in California and Nevada in July, AT&T has brought the higher speeds to such large cities as Chicago, Miami, Atlanta and New Orleans, among others. AT&T will charge about $50 a month for the highest tier in a triple-play bundle.
