To better engage Aboriginal students, an Australian secondary school is teaching Aboriginal language to all Year 7 students. Officials said the school previously offered French and Japanese to comply with a mandate that students in years 7 and 8 learn a language other than English. However, educators found students were not engaged and later expanded Aboriginal language studies. The results, they found, were more engagement and increased acceptance among the school's Aboriginal population.
