The Bureau of Land Management needs to withdraw its proposed rules covering hydraulic fracturing on federal lands as they would only raise well-drilling costs, said Karen Harbert, president of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Institute for 21st Century Energy. "The rule adds requirements intended to reduce the risk of a contamination event; however, state regulations already protect underground sources of drinking water," Harbert said.
