Express Scripts found 29% increased use of anxiety drugs among caregivers for disabled and sick adults than among others. "An estimated 42 million Americans serve as a caregiver to a relative or friend, and that number will grow significantly as the boomer population ages," said Bob Nease, Express Scripts' chief scientist. The research also found higher rates of medication involving illnesses among caregivers where stress can be a factor, including ulcers, depression and hypertension.
