A pilot program that provides complimentary Wi-Fi in much of the downtown Las Vegas area has hotels struggling because they are trying to lure guests with the same service. New York City is another city doing something similar, offering Wi-Fi in the parks and in the Times Square district. "Wi-Fi today is just like electricity used to be once upon a time -- it's a necessity," said Mira Marcus, spokeswoman for the city of Tel Aviv, which is debuting a similar service. "Everyone deserves access to information."
