Two male red pandas who were born June 27 at the Detroit Zoo to mother Ta-Shi are spending most of their time in their den, but they may be visible to visitors in their wooded habitat. The species, small and more closely related to raccoons and skunks than bears, is considered vulnerable due to habitat loss from deforestation. "We're thrilled to once again add to the captive population of this threatened species," said curator of mammals Robert Lessnau.
