Data on 218 patients with poorly controlled type 1 and type 2 diabetes revealed those who used a new, automated bolus adviser had better HbA1C rates at the end of the study than those who used a standard glucose meter and did manual calculations. Researchers also found 56% of patients using the automated system attained more than a 0.5% decrease in A1C levels, compared with 34.4% in those who calculated by hand. The results appear in Diabetes Care.
