Using CT scans to examine modern birds, nonflying dinosaurs and one of the earliest known birds, researchers at the American Museum of Natural History in New York have found that dinosaurs had the potential for flight in their brains much earlier than previously thought. "What we think of as birdlike features -- they keep falling down the evolutionary tree," said Amy Balanoff, lead author of the study.
