Tarek El-Bawab, an Egyptian-born faculty member at Jackson State University in Mississippi, will be allowed to pursue a lawsuit against the school, alleging national origin discrimination and retaliation, a federal judge has ruled. The judge, however, threw out El-Bawab's claims that the university denied him equal protection. El-Bawab was denied a promotion in 2009 and was awarded tenure in 2011, but without a promotion.
