About 60% of workers had access to retirement plans through their jobs last year, a slight increase from 2009, according to the Employee Benefit Research Institute. The percentage of employees participating in the plans experienced an uptick in 2012, up to 46% compared with 45% in 2009, EBRI said. Employees contributed less, however, at an average of 6.7% of salary in 2012, down from 7.4% in 2009.
