Taking a page from Stanley Kubrick's groundbreaking film "2001: A Space Odyssey," a Japanese-speaking robot has headed to the International Space Station to work with astronaut Koichi Wakata, who will arrive at the outpost himself in November. The 13-inch-tall robot -- who, it should be noted, is not named HAL -- was built by the University of Tokyo, Toyota Motor and Dentsu to test how machines can assist astronauts in space.
