Individuals with epilepsy who did not take any anti-epileptic drugs had small to moderate hikes in risk for developing digestive and respiratory system cancers compared with those without the condition, a Danish study found. Meanwhile, the use of anti-epileptic medications was associated with increased risk of certain cancers, including esophageal, stomach and liver cancers, among people without epilepsy.
