Josef Ackermann has stepped down as chairman of Zurich Insurance after the suicide of the Swiss firm's chief financial officer. The CFO's death, which followed the suicide this month of the CEO of Swisscom, led to calls for increased awareness of the stresses placed on top executives. "It has always been tough at the top and it has always been lonely at the top and certainly since the global financial crisis, it's got even lonelier and even tougher," said executive mentor David CM Carter.
