Early adopters of voluntary cybersecurity standards in the U.S. could receive incentives such as prioritization for federal grants and reduced insurance rates, said the White House's cybersecurity coordinator, Michael Daniel. The incentives are part of federal efforts to increase participation in cybersecurity initiatives while standards are being finalized. "Over the next few months, agencies will examine these options in detail to determine which ones to adopt and how, based substantially on input from critical infrastructure stakeholders," Daniel said.
