The FDA issued Federal Register notices on Thursday formally extending to Nov. 15 the comment period for two of the proposed rules envisioned in the Food Safety Modernization Act: the Standards for the Growing, Harvesting, Packing, and Holding of Produce for Human Consumption; and the Current Good Manufacturing Practice and Hazard Analysis and Risk-Based Preventive Controls for Human Food. "This is the second and final extension of the comment period for these two rules," the agency said. "The extension of the comment period also applies to the information collection provisions associated with the proposed rules."
