Type 2 diabetes patients with heightened carotid-femoral pulse-wave velocity were at an increased risk of fatal or nonfatal myocardial infarction, stroke or other cardiac events compared with other patients, according to a study in Diabetes Care. "The clinical implication is that it suggests that aortic-stiffness measurement ... should be incorporated into cardiovascular risk assessment of [at least] type 2 diabetic patients [who are] at high cardiovascular risk," said senior author Gil F. Salles.
