Seventeen struggling, high-poverty schools in Los Angeles have nearly doubled some of their test scores over five years under a plan by the nonprofit Partnership for Los Angeles Schools that includes a focus on professional development and collaboration and coaching for teachers and administrators, according to the nonprofit's leaders Marshall Tuck and Colleen Oliver.
